Chrysaor
Hellezar's Particle Ripper: Chrysaor
"I call it
Chrysaor now. Not sure who that was, but she said it suits me. Something about a knight of justice and golden swords. I just liked the sound of it."
Origins and Philosophy
Hellezar's Particle Ripper began as a standard-issue boarding weapon purchased early in his investigative career. While the majority of his tools are property of House Helicon, the Particle Ripper is personal property—his only true possession amidst the uniforms, Licenses, and assigned hardware. Over time, it became a hobby, a canvas, and eventually a symbolic artifact: a weapon designed to be efficient and brutal, shaped into something elegant and deeply personal.
Tinkering with the weapon in off hours became a method for mental clarity. Disassembling, modifying, testing—all of it functioned as a ritual, a grounding act amidst the abstract chaos of investigations. Where most of his life is lived in metaphor, social masks, and carefully cultivated ambiguity, the Particle Ripper is simple. Practical. Real.
Structure and Appearance
The base model consists of a saber hilt with a curved, elegant design. Hellezar replaced the standard hilt with an Adamant Wave Diamondoid housing, integrating a basket guard enhanced by a Momentum-Amplifying Suite that makes pommel strikes and knuckleguard punches devastating in close combat. The grip is wrapped in heat-dispersive silkcarbon thread, giving it an old-world fencing aesthetic.
The weapon's signature feature is its blade—a looping stream of bright yellow particles, held in orbit by a gravitic pressor lens. When active, the blade appears to hum silently due to the Vacuum-Sheathe mod, its golden arc dancing with restrained fury. The sodium-based canister gives it its color and characteristic follow-up burn damage, ideal for cutting doors, Equipment, and limbs while minimizing toxic fallout or radiation.
Functionality and Combat Use
Chrysaor is designed for boarding actions and close-quarters precision work. Its particle stream bypasses most personal shielding and can cut through Carbexene armor with sustained pressure. Despite its dramatic visual signature, the blade produces no blood—a grim tradeoff that makes its wounds cleaner but more psychologically disturbing. The weapon, when used lethally, leaves behind corpses with cauterized stumps and terminal scarring, often arousing horror or vengefulness in survivors.
When facing another Particle Ripper, Chrysaor's pressor allows Hellezar to engage in momentum redirection, allowing skilled parries and deflections that capitalize on particle stream repulsion. He has drilled extensively in Techniques to exploit these moments of repulsion, often favoring lateral pivots and redirection over brute force.
Personal Symbolism
To Hellezar, Chrysaor represents the only item in his arsenal that is purely his. This gives it a deeper symbolic weight. In official Helicon correspondence, he uses a stylized golden saber as his signature. In covert operations, he uses a seemingly unrelated cartoon banana sticker to mark caches, messages, or drop points—a joke, but also a symbol of uniqueness. Even Stern, his drone adviser, has a stencil of the saber symbol painted on his chassis.
Its current name, Chrysaor, was given not by Hellezar himself but by Dawn des Drachen, who associated the gleaming weapon with the sword of Artegall, knight of Justice from The Faerie Queene. Though Hellezar didn’t understand the reference at the time, he embraced it. Perhaps because of her, or perhaps because it resonated with something dormant inside him.
