The "Mountain Range" of Nyrian – The Frozen Waves of Ice

Gehe zur deutschen Version: Das „Gebirge“ von Nyrian – Die erstarrten Wellen aus Eis
In the east and north of Nyrian, a massive barrier of ice rises into the sky. But these are no ordinary mountains—there is no rock, no tectonic plates pushing against each other. Instead, the ice has shaped itself over millennia. In a continuous movement, the frozen land has expanded until it met resistance—a natural boundary that forced the ice to change. In some places, it was pushed upward, forming sharp ridges and towering ice walls. In others, it fractured under pressure, tearing itself into deep ravines where the cold has remained trapped for centuries. This landscape appears alive, frozen in a moment of tension—a reminder of a time when Nyrian had not yet succumbed to eternal stillness. It is a world full of edges, crevices, and unfathomable depths, where the ice has written its own story.

The Four Special Ice Regions

1. Yodunskuld

– The Massive Ice Ridge Location: In the far northeast, serving as a natural border to the open wilderness. The ice here has been compressed over countless generations and eventually pushed upward, forming an almost mountainous structure. Its jagged surface makes it inaccessible and challenging—a colossal, frozen wave of ice. • Length: 15–20 kilometers • Height: Up to 150 meters • Width: Several hundred meters

2. Storar

– The Great Scar Location: In the south, near the raging coast where ocean forces strain the ice. Here, a massive fissure gapes open—a deep valley of pure frost. Long ago, the ice fractured under its own pressure but never fully sealed itself again. It remains a silent, ominous rift, stretching like a vast wound through the frozen land. • Length: 8 kilometers • Depth: Up to 300 meters • Width: 50–100 meters

3. Sprakmarka

– The Land of Broken Cold Location: Positioned in front of Storar, serving as a transition zone between the stable ice plain and deeper crevices. Cracks and fractures run through the ground everywhere. Anyone crossing this region must tread carefully—the surface may appear stable from a distance, but hidden gaps lie in wait to swallow the unwary. • Size: 30 kilometers in length, 15 kilometers in width • Depth of crevices: Up to 50 meters

4. Ismurna

– The Eternal Barrier Location: In the north, a colossal wall stands between the sea and the land. Over millennia, the ice here has compressed so intensely that it formed an almost impassable barrier. The cold has hardened it to a stone-like consistency, a smooth surface stretching endlessly in both directions. • Length: 40 kilometers • Height: Up to 200 meters • Width: Several hundred meters
