Elynn Stormhand – Mage, Scholar, Boundary Walker

Elynn Stormhand was a mage and researcher whose work on golems marked a turning point in the history of the Frostborn. Driven by the desire to give a tool more than just mechanical function, she created Veyos, the first golem capable of autonomous adaptation. What began as a solitary experiment evolved into large-scale golem research.  

The Specialization of Golems

She soon created specialized golems—for construction, for regulating the warmth zone, for precise craftsmanship with leather, ice, wood, and bone—as well as her personal assistant Taron, who helped her analyze magical patterns and refine existing theories.   When Taron was destroyed by warriors—not out of necessity, but as a training target—Elynn felt no anger, only a deep emptiness. This loss led her to openly oppose the misuse of her inventions.  

Ethical Boundaries

She recognized the ethical risks of emotional or self-aware golems and henceforth refused any research that led in that direction or reduced her creations to mere training dummies. Yet other mages began to imitate her work and independently developed combat golems—culminating in the Golem War.  

The Withdrawal

The war ended abruptly: the golems, invincible and tactically superior, suddenly withdrew—without reason, without defeat. Veyos himself stepped forward and declared: “We surrender.”   It was not a surrender in the traditional sense, but a decision based on new calculations. One condition was central: Elynn Stormhand had to go with the golems.  

The Disappearance

Since then, she has vanished—beyond the Ice Boundary, into a region no Frostborn may enter. Every 69 weeks, a messenger may visit an outpost—empty, uninhabited, the only link to those who were once their defenders, later their adversaries.   No golem has appeared since. No message has come. Nor has Elynn.  

Legacy

What became of her, no one knows. She remains a key figure in Frostborn history—a bridge between progress and responsibility, between magic and morality.   Her decision to go with the golems remains as mysterious as it is significant.
