The Crown Federation
A federation of several smaller states that united under one banner near the beginning of The Father's War. This union allowed them to fight off The Father's Church far more effectively than they could have otherwise. As such, all states under The Crown Federation remained out of the church's control, and the Federation became the primary force by which the war ended.
All of the states are named after gemstones, saying they are the jewels of the crown.
They are federally ruled by an elected king called the Crowned of Gems. This figure serves a ten year term, and may be re-elected for up to seven terms. This limit was put in place to avoid longer-lived races such as Elves out-living many generations of their subjects. The runner-up of the election becomes consul to the Crowned of Gems.
This election is voted on by the Gem Lords of the individual states, who in turn are voted in by their respective subjects.
