Munya

Munya, occasionally called the Kingdom of Born Assassins due to its most famous queen's actions, is known not only for its prosperity but also its rapidly developing technology, education, culture, et cetera due to the care the royal family has for the people. Once you master one of Munya's advancements, there's already two more done and four more being researched with the fundage of the royal family. Sometimes there are developments that are implemented in every house, effectively rebuilding most, if not all, of the city over time.

Demographics

Most people in Munya were in a low wealth class with a few very wealthy individuals, but Queen Lethe's reign led to a quickly growing middle class with her policies of higher taxes on those with extreme wealth and low to no taxes on those who can barely survive. While the majority of people from Munya are humans, fae and dragonbloods can be found in small concentrations within specific locations established specifically for the needs of different species.

Government

While Munya is and always has been a monarchy, Queen Lethe created a system where the people are allowed to vote to remove the current royal family from the throne and elect a new royal family should the majority of people believe their lives are being harmed by the royal's policies. In addition, those who are rich are taxed more than the poor, creating a middle class which has grown since Lehte's reign. While there have been many royals since her rule, the aforementioned basics have not been changed, for the royal would almost certainly be overthrown without them.

Defences

Munya is surrounded by a moat and stone walls. There have been rumors of digging out the surrounding plains to create a sort of motte, but the plains surrounding Munya are far too flat for that to be feasible. Since the city has already been built, Munya will likely never have a motte.

Industry & Trade

Munya tends to sell much more than they buy, for the people produce almost anything, from crops

Infrastructure

Munya is filled with profitable shops, food/item processing locations, cosy houses, et cetera. Being landlocked, however, Munya does not have infrastructure requiring more water than a lake or a river. Bridges and watermills are exempt from this rule.

Districts

While most of Munya is essentially the same, there are four individual districts that don't quite align with the rest of the kingdom. These districts are the Fae District, the Dragonblood District, the Poor District, and the Royal District. The first three districts aim to make the lives of the groups they are targeted towards easier, but the Royal District is essentially the home of the royals, the nobles, and the royal advisors.

History

Munya has had a consistent record of tyranny throughout the history of its royal family. While coups were started about every five or so years, the only successful one was that of Queen Lethe. Since then, there have never been huge coups in the now peaceful city. That being said, there are still coups, but they have never taken off.

Points of interest

The Fae and Dragonblood Districts are perhaps the most popular places for tourists to visit, although many do also visit the Royal District. The shops of Munya, however, get a lot more attention from those who visit. The shops are not, however, seen as the most popular parts of Munya's tourism despite the locals saying otherwise.

Architecture

Churches and buildings in the Royal District enjoy gothic arcitecture, but most other places in Munya simply have quaint stone houses.

Geography

Munya rests in exceptionally flat grasslands and has several rivers flowing through the large city.

Climate

The weather in Munya is generally fair during the summer, spring, and autumn, reaching upwards of ninety degrees Fahrenheit with dry heat and going as low as forty degrees Fahrenheit, but it can reach as low as negative five degrees Fahrenheit during the deepest depths of winter, ensuring the entire city is often blanketed in thick layer of snow. Due to the extreme winter temperatures, Munya has strict laws concerning the proper operation of the advanced heating systems of houses and businesses during winter.
