Ykryn

the scientist

Ykryn the scientist, selected by Aethos due to his insatiable hunger for knowledge, was sent to Tera to help mankind unravel the secrets of life. Ykryn was extremely motivated to learn everything there was to know about this new world, but preferred not to take part in the Salvation of humanity. On the contrary: he secretly opposed the killing of the titans as he was fascinated by their superiority, a trait that would come back later and define his time on Tera. The only hunt he actively took part in, was that of Esreaval the horror of the deep, who proved to be extremely difficult to track in the vast sea of men. Using Ykryn's knowlegde of Tera, they managed to lure and poison the leviathan, which slowed it down so it had no other choice than to fight. Esreaval fell, marking the death of the last titan in the World of man .   Afterwards he and Kartan founded the Order of the Vesaja ; an organisation with the sole purpose of discovery, which not after long was spreading wisdom all over Central civilisation . When Ykryn had learned everything he wanted to learn about Tera, he quickly became bored of the order. He had a thrill for discovery and experimentation, and couldn't care less about teaching the basics to puny humans, who he had little respect for. Weak minds in a weak body which wouldn't even exist anymore if they didn't come to their aid. This was not worth his precious time. He left the order and turned his back on mankind, which made him the first Vesajan to abandon the task set by Aethos. In secret, he and a select few humans he deemed "worthy", started experiments in hidden laboratories where they used chemistry, magic and biology in order to create the perfect being. From these experiments came creatures that still can be found today, often twisted and broken due to Ykryn's ruthless ways.   During The god-wars , Ykryn stood by Arkun's side. While he did not care about power or the dominion of Tera, Arkun now shared a similar vision about humanity and supported his experiments. When Aethos found out his vesajan pupils had failed in their task, he banned them from Tera never to return again. Slowly members of the archive would learn about his crimes against humanity, resulting in the discovery of the secret laboratory. Ykryn's cult-like following was forced to flee from West-Theria in fear of prosecution, and reformed in the east under a new name: the Ak'zan Khul-ur .

While his vesajan kin worked hard to keep a somewhat positive public image, Ykryn never cared the slightest. As a result there are very few that actively worship him, with only a handfull of shrines scattered around western Theria. His image however, is still often visible in schools or libraries. What remains of his following, is now called the Ak'zan Khul-ur , and they are still continuing the sinister work of their former lord to this day.

Ascendants

Ykryn did not find mankind worthy of his power, and has no ascendants as a result of that. There were however occasions where he sacrificed parts of his magical capacity during some experiments. The Drakehounds for example have some vesajan magic running through their veins, and could therefore be consindered ascendants.
