Stalker hawk

The regular stalking hawk is a bird of prey found all around the continent of Theria. With a wingspan that can reach 140cm they are one of the larger species of hawks, but their wings\body ratio is bigger than other hawks, which makes them look bigger than they actually are. When hunting they use their long wings to float effortlessly in the sky, looking down to find prey. This prey often comes in the form of other flying birds who are not able to spot the stalker hawk since he is too high up. The hawk then follows the bird untill it lands somewere, followed by catching it by diving right on top. This stalking behaviour is where the hawk got it's name from.   During the many years of conflict, communication has always been a crucial part of warfare. For this both pigeons and Galava s, selectively bred and trained by humans, became a very popular tool. The stalker hawk would be used much later in the war to counteract the messenger birds by actively hunting them and thus intercepting the message. Succes rates were low however, and with the end of The god-wars the stalker hawk lost alot of popularity around the continent, with most of the empires ending the breeding program. One empire however found itself locked in hostile territory, and continued working with these hawks.
