Bernor Dahlvos

The pillar of Liox

Family history

The family Dahlvos (Da-el-vos) are a fairly new important family in Liox . Darren Dahlvos was granted the titel Great blood (important person) as a reward for being a succesfull tournament fighter, as well as being a great leader on the field of battle. As is common, the title is passed on to his sons Bernor and Mehlior. Both of them proved to be great warriors of their own, climbing the ranks quickly in the Lioxian military. Sadly, during one of the greatest defeats Liox has ever suffered, Mehlior got killed and both Darren and Bernor got gravely injured. With Darren later succumbing to his wounds, it was now Bernor alone to carry on the family legacy. However, because of his former wounds, he had to abandon the military and find other ways to keep the family name relevant. He had ambition for Lioxian politics, but unlike in the military, his name did not yet carry enough weight to be elected. Besides, being a cripple would not work in his favor because at the young age of 28 it is seen as a weakness. So Bernor Dahlvos went back to his pre- great blood family roots: the mining business. Reopening the family mine, west of liox, he proved to be a good business man as well. Steady growth however, was not enough for Bernor. And he had his doubts it would ever be enough to to get into politics. He looked for more.

When iron is just not enough

After talking to a stranger who found sirrium ,a rare silver metal, at the foot of the western mountains, he decided to make an expedition to investigate. He knew this was a great risk, since dangerous monsters roam the western mountains, spawned from the eternal decay (swamp) behind it. The risk payed of, as he returned alive and well, and with proof of a big sirrium vein in the western mountains. He knew this had the potential to make all of his ambitions come true, but he still had 2 problems to tackle.     First of all: a market. While being superior to regular steel (lighter and stronger), the market was small because the qualities didn’t outweigh the massive increase of price. The second problem was obtaining it. He had the financial power to open up another mine. The problem was people to work in the mine. The western mountains are feared throughout the continent, nobody in their right mind would work there. Through connections he solved both these problems by striking a deal with the southern triangle; the 3 big desert nations across the sea. They provided slaves to open up the mine, and after that in the years to come they bought up all the sirrium with more slaves and gold.

Rise to power

In the following years Bernor became the richest man in Liox. He used this money mostly to invest in the noxian infrastructure and army, to gain popularity. His biggest investment was the Theatre of glory, an arena of massive proportions that looked like it was built by Bonk'aal himself. This proved enough for him to be elected by the senate. In later years the theatre grew to be the heart of Liox, and Bernor grew with it to become the head of the senate, only being surpassed by the king in authority. In theory that is, in fact Bernor already held the titel of most influencal person in Liox. There is no doubt he will be crowned the next king. He closed the sirrium mines, which would become known as the Haunted mine  , and decided to focus all of his attention on the war of the west.

Family

Bernor was married to Mirhian, also a woman of greater blood. Together they had 3 sons:
  • Erhan Dahlvos
  • Aaron Dahlvos
  • Darren Dahlvos
  • Tragedy struck when Mirhian was robbed and murdered in the lower layer of Liox.

    Overachiever

Bernor always had little interest voor everything other than his duty, and everything always had to be done perfectly. He did not only expect this from himself, but also from others. Failure was never an option. His sons didn't get spared from this vision, and therefore there was little to none affection between them.
