Vampires are a specific subrace of
Curseblood that often sport elongated teeth and pale skin. Vampires are forced to subsist off the blood of mortal creatures, receiving the greatest sustenance from humanoids.
Where are they?
Vampires primarily inhabit
The Martellite Empire, due to the concentration of curses placed on the nobility there. Some nobles who have heard legends of vampiric prowess purposefully inflict themselves with the curse. These families are often ostracized under the current administration, with a handful of exceptions.
Some
Sky Elves, having heard legends of the eternal beauty some vampires have been known to possess, have also sought out ways to gain the benefits of the curse, but strip away the downsides. These experiments have often ended in failure, forcing any who try into the far reaches of the
Skywall, hiding in the shadows and jealously feeding on those who can still create.
Powers
Many vampires have learned to twist the magic fueling the curse into power. A vampire who has unlocked this capability can absorb the very life force within the blood they consume, converting it into aether for their own purposes. Whether they use that aether to fuel magic, or enhance their physical prowess is entirely up to the vampire in question. That life force can even be converted into increased longevity, allowing a vampire to live past their normal lifespan.
Weaknesses
Their curse marks them forever as enemies of
Delain, and as such the sun itself brings them harm. They are not undead, and as a result face no negative effects from holy symbols other than Delain's, or from silver items.
