Stahlmänner (stahl-mehner)

Stahlmänner (singular: Stahlmann) are an invention of the Härtenstadt dwarves, and some would say the pinnacle of their achievements. Through alchemy and industry, they have managed to create a vessel which can house the soul of a dwarf and install it into a golem-like body. Since dwarven souls are technically artificial in nature, the process for creating Stahlmänner cannot be applied to any other race. Dwarves themselves also cannot make souls, so for a Stahlmann to be given life, it must be when a dwarf dies. As such, Stahlmänner are rare, as few dwarves are willing to avoid the cycle prescribed by Wesselska. There is a fear, though unproven, that a soul used in a Stahlmann, once no longer able to support the form, will be lost forever, unable to reincarnate.   It goes without saying that a Stahlmann goes for as long as the body and the soul using it can stay together.
