Ravenhead

The town of Ravenhead is home to a castle with a deep history. Established by the Oganid dynasty decades prior, it acted as the seat of power for the Duchy of Corvannia.
Ravenhead once served as a valuable fortification against the The Eiturwood Confederation of Elven Tribes before the borders were adjusted after a war. Ravenhead for a time remained a valuable crossroad, and trade flourished in the area before tragedy struck the Oganids, forcing them to abandon Ravenhead for a new capital. The city fell in prosperity, though managed well enough to sustain itself to this day.
The nearby castle is rumored to be a cursed site, as well as a seat of power for the infamous Order of Beldur. The source of this rumor comes from an old tale regarding a Duke of the Oganid dynasty, Joaquin Oganid. Detailed in the Curse of Castle Ravenhead, Joaquin's abduction of, and the subsequent death of a princess in the castle lead to the curse falling upon the castle. The curse is a source of great concern for merchants who are aware of it, and its potential existence has been one of the major reasons for the town's decline. The rumor says that the ghost of the princess still haunts the castle, and the Order of Beldur studies her suffering with great interest, sometimes even making attempts to increase her pain. The land surrounding the castle is withered as a result of her anguish, and any who do not belong to the order will often find themselves drowned in the lake overlooked by Castle Ravenhead's towers.
