Imperium Day

Imperium Day is a celebration held in The Martellite Empire once a year. It celebrates the formation the the Empire under their national hero, Martin Eleanor. It is often celebrated by the lighting of several candles in local village squares, one for each of the Original Duchies. This ceremony is often accompanied by the lords of several estates mingling among their people, symbolizing their founder's desire to foster trust and respect between the nobility and their subjects. This has been known to backfire on several occasions, but is generally a peaceful, well appreciated affair.
