In the land of Tareh, one religion reigns supreme over the others. The Church of Tareh in the year 1280, announced itself as the one true religion of Tareh, and before long had a following numbering in the millions. Smaller religions were ostracised and the members of those religions were hunted down and slaughtered whenever found.

The Church of Tareh seeks to destroy all other religions and religious groups within the world of Tareh. Ever since their rise to power, they have sought the unification of all people within Tareh and to bring them all under one God and one power.
History
1260: The first members of the Church of Tareh meet together
1280: The Church of Tareh declares itself the one true religion
1282: The first Hand of Glahor, Katih Dalur, is elected
1311: Katih Dalur dies and Survaze Duuzefk is named the new Hand of Glahor
1340: The Church of Tareh controls most of Tareh
1380: Nearly all of Tareh has pledged its loyalty to the Church of Tareh
1394: Survaze Duuzefk is killed by a rogue cult member
1395: Vali Phoenix is named Hand of Glahor
Religion
The religion of Glahor is the only religion allowed, and the Church of Tareh is the official religious group of this religion. All other religions, religious groups, cults, or anything of the like is forbidden within Tareh. Any member of a group that does not serve Glahor will be executed by the Council of Nine and the Church of Tareh.
Divine Origins
The Church of Tareh saw its beginnings when a man began traveling throughout the land performing miracles beyond that of other religious people before him. He said that his powers had come from the one true God whose name he said was Glahor. At first, many took him to merely be a raving madman, but as his miracles increased some began to take notice of this man. His name is lost to the annals of the Church's history, but the Church members refer to him as the One. For he was the first and he was the one to bring the Light of Glahor to Tareh.
Over the next few decades, he gathered a large number of followers, and before long, he and his followers began to take over the world and subjected the peoples of Tarah to their religion. Those who would not join the religion peacefully were either slaughtered by the military arm of the Church or were put on mock trials before being quartered in the streets as examples. By 1280, they had successfully taken over most of Tareh, and that is when the One disappeared from the scene. He has not been seen since, and that is when the Hands of Glahor began to be elected to rule the Church until the One returns.
Glahor is the light, and we are the torches.
