Moonlit Court of Eithwyn
The Moonlit Court is the highest governing and judicial body of Eithwyn, overseeing matters of law, politics, and elven tradition within the greatest elven kingdom of Tanaria. It is a symbol of wisdom, balance, and measured justice, embodying the principles of Umbra, the God of Shadows, Knowledge, and Consequences. Unlike mortal courts that simply enforce the law, the Moonlit Court sees itself as both judge and guardian of elven civilization, ensuring that its rulings not only uphold tradition but also maintain the delicate balance of power within the kingdom.
Traditions & Symbolism
The court is named after the Moonlit Veil, a belief that truth, like the moon’s light, is sometimes obscured but never absent. This philosophy is reflected in the court’s ceremonies and rulings, which often take place beneath the light of the moons Callista and Umbriel, reinforcing their connection to divine wisdom and unseen truths.
The Lunar Convocation – A sacred gathering held once every cycle of the twin moons, where the High Arbiters discuss the most pressing matters of state under the moonlight, invoking the guidance of Umbra.
The Rite of Balance – A ritual performed before a major ruling, where a scale is weighed with silver and shadow, symbolizing the eternal tension between justice and consequence.
The Crescent Seal – The official sigil of the Moonlit Court, a silver crescent intertwined with a balance scale, representing the pursuit of wisdom over blind judgment.

Structure
The court is composed of a council of High Arbiters, each representing a different aspect of Eithwyn’s governance. These figures hold both legislative and judicial power, making rulings that affect the entirety of the elven realm. The highest of them all is the Lord Arbiter, a position currently held by Maerion Vel’Quinar.
The Lord Arbiter – The chief authority of the Moonlit Court, responsible for overseeing all rulings and ensuring that justice aligns with elven law and divine balance. The Lord Arbiter has the final say in the most critical matters of state, though they are still bound by the will of the court itself.
The High Arbiters – A council of esteemed elven nobles and scholars, each holding jurisdiction over specific areas of governance such as civil law, foreign diplomacy, military judgment, magical ethics, and religious interpretation. They debate and refine policies before presenting them to the Lord Arbiter for final approval.
The Crescent Tribunal – A group of elven magistrates who carry out the court’s rulings and ensure that lesser disputes are resolved before they escalate to the High Arbiters. They act as both judges and advisors, traveling throughout Eithwyn to maintain order.
The Lunar Envoys – Representatives of the court who engage in diplomatic affairs, ensuring that Eithwyn’s laws and values are respected beyond its borders. They serve as intermediaries between elven nobility and foreign powers.
