The Vale of Blood

The Vale of Blood is an extremely fertile land situated between the territories of The Hill Dwarven Kingdom of Belzad, The Wood Elven Kingdom of Selton, The Tiefling Empire, The Free City of Parth, and The Hobgoblins of the Southern Wastes. It is the ancestral home of the halflings, but so many wars have been fought over it that it has been known as the Vale of Blood for longer than anyone can remember.    The reality of the Vale is that the states surrounding it constantly push into it's fertile ground, vying with each other for the settlements within. They loot and set up shop in the villages as they go, until eventually they get pushed back by another army from another state. It exists in limbo between small scale wars and skirmishes.   The resident halflings themselves are often the unfortunate victims of this constant warring. Their settlements may be calm and prosperous for months at a time, but the spectre of war hangs ever above their heads, and the next army that comes through looking for food could end them.
