Duchy of Norman

The Duchy of Norman is the northernmost region of The Human Kingdom of Seradon. It is the least conventional of the human duchies, as within the duchy there is no feudal structure - they have a tribal one instead.   Norman has long since been populated by three tribes, with a long standing brotherhood and shared culture. It's hostile environment and lack of abundant natural resources has left them long isolated, and as such their unique culture has been very persistent. During the unification of The Human Kingdom of Seradon they were conquered by the armies of Central Seradon, but have been left largely to their own devices so long as they respect the authority of the King. They send their tax money and pay their respects, but they aren't really populous or prosperous enough in the eyes of the King to warrant much attention. They rotate through the three tribes to choose a new duke each time the old one dies or resigns, and internally refer to said person as "The Norman".   The three tribes have each adapted to the dangerous biomes in the region in their own way. Tribe Eikthyr lives along the cold rocky coastlines, fishing and sea monster hunting to survive. They are known for their sleek ship designs, large statures, and terrifying martial prowess. Tribe Slidrugtanni live in the High Forest, and are known for their strange druids, capable rangers, and skilled herbalists. Tribe Svadalfari are a highly nomadic tribe spread across the Eastern Steppes, and are known for their fearsome mounted archers, careful trackers, and tamed monster cavalry.
