Personal history
Born in 815 YD to Cyrus and Valencia Palevalor, his life would be as chaotic and dangerous as you'd imagine of one belonging the Seekers. When he was 8 years old, his grandfather, Gratian, the lead priest of the Arch-Devil Moloch, was to, as per his agreement with Moloch, sacrifice all the first born sons of his lineage. But Cyrus unable to carry out his family's pact had Valencia hide the child and convinced his father, Gratian, that he had had a child out of wedlock with another woman years previously. Gratian, fooled, but not beyond suspicion, had the child Cyrus claimed as his own sacrificed to Moloch. Leo was saved.
Years later, growing up a mischievous child in Orkenskar, capital of the Crimson Sands, Leo would use his family's prestige and reputation to get out of any trouble he would find himself in. Eventually, a High Elf known as Gerwas was sent as an ambassador to the Palevalors from Mt. Lunia in the North to broker trade arrangement between the two regions. During one of these meetings, Gerwas caught Leo listening in, and took an interest in the boy and began training him further in the ways of espionage. Eventually Leo learned that Gerwas was, in the meantime during the trade agreements, gathering info on the Palevalor family and their crimes. Leo, never having learned he was meant to have been sacrificed, was distraught at the perceived treachery from Gerwas towards his family. Leo then exposed Gerwas to his family, placing him in better graces with his grandfather.
Leo would continue to expand his skills he had learned from Gerwas in the years following. One day Leo's mother would tell him of the truth of their family, and Leo was heartbroken. He would leave the Sands, and travel on his own. After Leo had left, Gratian would learn that Cyrus had deceived him, and that Leo should have been sacrificed. From that day forward Leo would be hunted by the forces of the Cult of Moloch and his grandfather.
In his journeys, he would get captured by the Cult of Hokajin, an oni from the Night Realm, who had begun operating in the Torendal Valley. It was here, in captivity, that Leo would come face to face with the group which would come to be known as the Seekers of the Golden Grain. For a more complete history of Leo and his time with the Seekers, read The Full & Extended History of the Seekers of the Golden Grain, by Dreezus Kodak the Faun.
Later in his casual adventures around the world with Gerwas, Leo would become the Champion of the Changebringer, who he had first seen at the wedding of the Everlight and the Arch-Heart. Smitten from that point on with her, Leo sought to come closer to her any way he could. Years later, Gerwas and Leo would come across the Lesser God, Mask. Determined to get something out of the god, the pair concocted schemes as to how to trick him. Gerwas failed, but Leo's proved to be succesful. He arranged for the Changebringer to temporarily morph his memory so that he himself would believe that he was a poor beggar who had forgotten his name, so that any attempt from Mask to detect deception would fail. Leo playing the bumbling fool got Mask to wager his own name at the promise of this "beggar's" servitude. Leo insinuated to Mask that a god like himself must know everything compared to a beggar like himself, and so the wager was that if Mask could answer the beggar's question, Mask would win; but if he couldn't, Leo would win. Having been puffed up by Leo, Mask accepted. The beggar then asked Mask, "What is my name?". Mask then used his abilities to pry inside the mind of the beggar only to find, to his tremendous horror, this beggar truly had no memories anywhere within his mind. Mask failed to answer the beggar his question, and so Leo gained the name of Mask. The Changebringer then broke the enchantment, and Leo revealed himself to the now weakened form of Mask.
After this, Leo was approached by Yorick Voldren, Regent of Tycheron, to fill the position of Guildmaster for Yorick's idea of a Thieves Guild. The original idea had been to extend this position to Gerwas, but he had gone missing. Leo then took this as his opportunity to achieve a number of things. First, find and secure the missing Gerwas; And second, form an organization capable of dismantling his family's Cult of Moloch. For a more complete record of Leo's work as Guildmaster of the Thieves Guild, please read The Full Story & History Behind the Development of the Thieves Guild, by Dreezus Kodak the Faun.
After continuing on in his efforts alongside Gerwas in the Dragon Wars, in 42 YH Leo would begin rapidly becoming fragile as if with extensive age. All manner of magical means were employed to heal him, but nothing would prove effective. When on the 2nd of Gormanord, 42 YH, surrounded by his numerous friends including the remaining Seekers and Gerwas, as well as his Goddess, the Changebringer, Leo would pass away; presumably into the afterlife of his dear Changebringer. Leo is buried in the mausoleum beneath the Golden Grain Inn.
