Bright Star

Mercy's Song, Champion of the Everlight, Bladebearer

Exemplary of all his fellow Psonorous, Bright Star was a candle that burned twice as bright for half as long. Unfailingly optimistic, it was his bright spirit that helped form and maintain the Seekers of the Golden Grain.

Personal history

Formed, as all Psonorous are, from when a burst of magical energy occurs in an area of paradisaical nature, Bright Star came into the world in the year 827 YD.
Living in the Gronelle Mountains, Bright Star grew to have a love for adventure, especially through self-expression. Almost every night he would stay up late and watch the stars and want to be like them, constant and full of light; this leading him to choose his name for himself. One day while out on a float through the woods, Bright Star heard on the wind a most wonderful sound, a sound that he had never heard before, but stirred deep inside him. Following the sound to its source, he found an old woodsman playing the pan pipes. Bright Star was enamored by the music, and the woodsman delighted in Bright Star's company. So Bright Star would come by this spot every day and listened to the old man play his songs. One day, however, the woodsman stopped coming by, but had left his pan pipes on the stump where he would sit and play for the young Psonorous. Bright Star would come back, day after day, awaiting for the return of the woodsman. But after some years, he realized his friend was gone. And so Bright Star picked up his friend's pan pipes and began to play; always hoping that his friend would hear him and return. After years of playing the pipes, Bright Star's melancholy song reached up into the heavens, when the Everlight heard the mournful tune. This endeared Bright Star to the Everlight dearly, and she would always stop to give Bright Star a listen when she could. She knew then that this little Psonorous was someone special.

Some time in the weeks preceding the 26th of Gormanord, 845 YD, the Everlight would begin visiting the dreams of Bright Star, and choose him as Her first Champion. In one of these dreams he would receive the following message:

"Across pallid bog,
beyond wastes of gloom and rot,
a dark tower stands;
Beams that shed bright light,
forged to end the endless plight,
a blade made holy;
A cruel tyrant cold,
seeks to conquer all that is,
and the end of Gods;
The conquering king,
master of the tower still,
claims the blade of light."

This would be his call to retrieve the holy blade of the Everlight, Sanctity's Fire, from the evil clutches of Vecna, then known only as 'The Lord of the Dark Tower'. The final dream he receives directs him to Fjelldal, to help rid the people there of their accursed nightmares. It is on his way to Fjelldal that he meets the first group of people that would come to be known as 'The Seekers of the Golden Grain'. For a more complete record of Bright Star's personal history, please read The Full & Extended History of the Seekers of the Golden Grain, by Dreezus Kodak the Faun.   It would be on the 27th of Skarpla, 22 YH, that the daily music that filled the halls of the Golden Grain for so many years, would suddenly, and unexpectedly, be cut short. The Champion of the Everlight, first Paladin of Bahamut, known as Bladebearer, Bright Star would pass from this mortal plane and return back to nature from whence he was formed. Fellow Seekers Gulmun, Leo, and Cyran would come together once again to try and locate their lost ally, only to find out he had passed on. It was this same night that the Everlight would, in memory of Her first Champion, raise into the night sky, The Bright Star. As well as the Platinum Dragon would officially form His chivalric order under the light of this star, The Order of the Bright Star, in honor of His first Paladin.
