Who is the Skyward Guard?
Although it is strange that a species that can fly has an air force, the Skyward Guard is just that. It was founded after the spread of the skycradles, when the valturo military leaders realized that with the skycradles, they could transport more supplies and spare weapons, scout further ahead, and in the event of combat, the injured could be safely placed inside the skycradles and returned home more quickly.
Current equipment of the Skyward Guard
The valturo military is not on the same level of readiness as the calamor and Dominion armies, and this also reflects what the Skyward Guard can achieve. They already have several skycradles, but not in significant numbers, so they are sufficient only for scouting tasks, skirmishes, or moving the injured. They also lack any sophisticated communication between the skycradles. Because of this, it is tough to change the strategy or tactics quickly. Everything depends on the original plan and the officers' ability to react effectively to any changes. They have a rudimentary sign system, but it is not capable of conveying complex information, such as changes in tactics and strategy.
The ranks within the Skyward Guard
The highest rank is called High Talon. The High Talon is responsible for leading the Skyward Guard and devising their strategies.
One rank below are the Flightkeepers. They are responsible for directing the skycradles, implementing the High Talon's strategy, and adjusting any part of the strategy or tactics as needed.
Then there are the leaders of the various units, like scouts and fighters. They are called Wingcallers. Usually, there is one unit per skycradle, and the Wingcallers are under the command of the Flightkeepers.
And last, but not least, there are the valturo fighters who don't have any rank. Some of them are called Flyguard, but this is more of an honorary title than a rank, and this title is bestowed on a valturo fighter by their peers.
