Skynettle

The base of the material is a regular nettle fabric. But it is woven much tighter. Then they use melted ambergris to saturate the nettle with it. This will make the fabric airtight and remain flexible, allowing for easy creation of different shapes. The valturo obtains the ambergris from the calamor, and the calamor are the ones who complete the skynettle. The final step is to layer the saturated nettle. This is achieved by a special glue extracted from the glueweeds by the calamor. The final syknettle is still a flexible material that doesn’t allow air or liquid to pass through. How hard or flexible it can be controlled by the number of nettle layers glued together.

The valturo almost entirely uses the skynettle to create puffets with it. The request for the puffets with the skynettle is so high that it is impossible to use them for anything else. The size of these puffets can be as small as a small ball or as large as that can be used in skycradles. However, it appears that there is currently a size limit on how large a puffet can be. Even if only two layers are glued together and the valturo wants to create a puffet larger than what they use in the skycraddles, the skynettle breaks. Because of this, to transport massive amounts of items, still, vangola caravans are used.

The calamor uses it for different purposes. They use skynettle in those breathing masks that airbreathers can use when they visit the Calamor Empire. Unlike the puffets, these masks are filled with regular air. The calamor are also experimenting to create some kind of suit that they can wear outside the water. They can breathe normal air through their skin, but a wearable suit filled with water would be a great solution to spend more time on the surface.

And of course, both the valturo and calamor armies are interested in the skynettle and what they can achieve with it. For the calamor military, the most interesting solution would be the suit mentioned above, while the valturo army has recently established its air force, called the Skyward Guard.
