Puffet

The humble origin of the puffet

The puffet was first a toy, which the valturo used to improve the flight capabilities of their chicks. They filled animal skins with air on the top of the mountain to make the puffet somewhat lighter. They called this air topair. Then the adults and older chicks kicked and threw the puffet among themselves while the young ones tried to catch it. For a very long time, this was the only usage of the puffet, until, by accident, a puffet maker filled one of the animal skins with a strange topair, and the puffet flew up into the air by itself.

First usage of the new puffet

At the beginning, the valturo didn’t care much about the new puffet. They mostly used it as a tool to help heavier items move from one place to another over a short distance. This new puffet had a serious disadvantage. The new topair used to create the puffet, sooner or later, escaped the animal skins, however tightly they were bound together. But everything changed when they made a new material that was a perfect match for the new topair.

Mass usage

This new material is called skynettle, and with it, the usage of the new puffets exploded. Everybody wanted to use one. Families were to take home whatever they purchased, and dealers were to move their wares over greater distances. The next step was to create a vehicle that the puffets can lift in the air. The idea originated from the wagons and carts that everyone used on the Gibora continent. What the valturo created is basically the same, they just use puffets instead of wheels. These vehicles are called skycradles. Although the use of skycradles has grown significantly, there is still a size limit for them. To transport vast amounts of anything, the valturo still needs vangola caravans within the Cutter and ships to move anything between the Cutter and the neighboring continents.

The darker side of the puffet

With the arrival of the skycradles, the valturo army began to show interest in this new technology as well. Although the valturo can fly, with skycradles, it is much easier to transport spare weapons to greater distances or have the injured in a safe place. And it gives them a much-needed strategic and tactical advantage over the much bigger armies of the Dominion.
Yes, it can ease a lot of things, but I still have more faith in the power of my wings
