Pilgrims of the Ceaseless Flight

Who are the Pilgrims of the Ceaseless Flight?

The Pilgrims of the Ceaseless Flight is a religious order, full of fanatical worshippers. To most of the valturo, the Pilgrims are not even an order, but a sect because of their radical beliefs and controversial actions that are born from their beliefs. For them, the great migration that happened between their ancestral home, the Eyrie, and their new home, the Cutter, is not finished, and they need to continue their flight because their real home is the skies.

The life of the Pilgrims

Their day-to-day life is almost a continuous ceremony, which is only interrupted when they are sleeping. Their life is filled with flying and praying - often praying while flying – and increasing their numbers. They are not converting anyone actively or aggressively; they don't have the time for it anyway, but many of the young valturo are impressed by their lifestyle of flying and not doing anything. Of course, many of the young soon leave the order, because even what the Pilgrims are doing requires dedication. Because of this, the number of Pilgrims is highly fluctuating, but slowly their numbers are increasing. Many of the former members are still in contact with the order. They are the ones who handle the worldly tasks of the Pilgrims, like continuously procuring enough food for them or raising their chicks.

Who is the leader of the Pilgrims?

The order was founded by, and the leader is still Varethra Featherstar. His name is an alias to resemble the official titles of the priests of the Divine Scavenger.

The Pilgrims' relation with the valturo society

Although religion and somewhat religious fanaticism are sacred among the valturo, even they look negatively on the Pilgrims. They bring no benefit to the valturo society, and the way they raise their chicks is frowned upon by many, because it is not the valturo way to raise their chick in a community. Family is important to the valturo, and the Pilgrims' practice is unacceptable for the average valturo.
Strange concept. But I've seen worse

I love the idea of using controversial to mean strange and unusual not anything illegal or even downright evil. I suspect that is something that not many people have thought about. It would be interesting to know if they are constantly flying on a set path to a destination or is it more random and they go whichever way they feel is right? If it is the first then how long have they been flying and are they due to reach their destination sometime? Also, how well liked is the order - are they tolerated or just completely hated? Anyway, I really enjoyed reading the article!! Feel free to ask for any clarification.

Thanks for your kind words and for the questions! :) I'll definitely write them in my todo list. From the top of my head I'd say they can fly wherever they like to fly. Although if they want they can fly in a straigth line, because the Cutter, where they live circles the planet. It basically cuts the planet into two halves. Their leader flew everywhere, you can read about him through this article too if you want (Varethra Featherstar), so I don't think it will canon that they are flighing in a straight line. About their tolerance level... Well... I might go with the "I tolerate them until they are not my problem" thinking, but that is human thinking and not valturo thinking.
