Chani Amr
Chani Amr (she/her) was a Warden of the Olyis Aeyrie on Manat during the War of Dragons.
History
Amr was born within the Quilla Republic on the Western coast of Ahrodia to a poor family. In her early years the town where she lived was raided by the forces of the Scaled Tyrant and she was captured along with others in the village. It is believed that her family did not survive as she never was able to locate them in her later years.
Taken into the hands of the Tyrant's forces, she was indoctrinated into their military force. Despite the intense propaganda she had been fed all her life, Amr retained a strong conscience and moral center from the fragments of memory of her parents teachings.
Amr decided at an early age to do what she could to resist the tyranny of the empire to which she was prisoner. Her target was specific and she elevated herself through the ranks to become a dragon rider.
Assigned to he Olysis Aeyrie on Manat, she worked to convert her fellow riders away from the ways of the Tyrant's conquest by showing them the full extent of the horrors they had inflicted not just upon people, but upon dragons. She used a dragon rider's natural empathy with dragons as a result of imprinting to sway not only her own Aeyrie but others.
She and her riders began to disrupt the Tyrant's military forces through measures of sabotage and in some cases outright assassinations.
Once Amr felt she had acquired enough of a group and seeing her hand forced after the Massacre of Tural she turned the riders against the Tyrant in a devastating blow against their largest military force that was pressing into the Turan Caliphate. Key intelligence was leaked to the Turani military and the riders themselves joined the battle against the Tyrant's forces.
At the same time, thanks to messages passed among the other aeyries, the riders attacked various key supply outposts and fortifications weakening the Tyrant's invasion force in a single night. The tide turned.
Throughout the remainder of the war she worked tirelessly to instill the need to repair the damage the riders had caused not only to dragons, but to the people whom had come to fear them.
Amr would not live to see the end of the war and the Draconic Accords signed.
She suffered a severe injury during an assault on the Tyrant's fleet which also saw the loss of her dragon. She held on for several weeks under medical care, but the strain of the loss of her mount, her advanced age by that point, and her injury she succumbed to her injuries in 1076 AD, one year before the end of the war.
Her journals and teachings would come to make up the heart of the Draconic Accords and the tenets of the Dragon Rider Conclave.
