Athanasia
Also known as the City of White, Athanasia stands as the radiant heart of the Elysian Faith. Every structure, from its sprawling cathedrals to its narrow alleyways, is built from pale stone that gleams like bone beneath the sun. To pilgrims, it is a vision of holiness — pure, eternal, and untouched by shadow.
At its center rises the Empyrean, the grand citadel that serves as Elysian’s headquarters and the seat of its highest clergy. From here, the church governs faith, law, and doctrine, sending its influence far beyond the city’s borders. The Empyrean’s towers pierce the clouds, their bells tolling through the day as constant reminders of divine order.
The city is protected by the Disenthrall, Elysian’s holy army — soldiers sworn to defend Athanasia’s purity at any cost. They patrol its walls and streets with unwavering devotion, their presence both comfort and warning. To the faithful, they are guardians of divine will; to the fearful, they are its unyielding hand. Within Athanasia, their march is the heartbeat of faith itself — steady, resounding, and absolute.
Demographics
Predominantly human and devoutly loyal to the Elysian Faith. The city’s structure mirrors its hierarchy — clergy and nobles reside near the Empyrean, while workers and penitents live along the outer rings. The Disenthrall serve as both protectors and enforcers, ensuring devotion remains absolute.
Government
Ruled by the Elysian Church; enforced by the Disenthrall.
Defences
Athanasia is encircled by massive white walls etched with protective scripture, said to repel corruption and maiaaks alike. The Disenthrall patrol its battlements and gates in constant rotation. During the Light Fracture, the barrier’s wards held firm, sparing the lands beyond from ruin.
Infrastructure
Athanasia is built in concentric rings around the Empyrean, each connected by guarded gates. Water flows from sanctified springs beneath the citadel, and pale crystal lanterns keep the city eternally lit. Beneath its streets lie hidden passages linking temples, prisons, and vaults maintained by the Disenthrall.
Assets
Athanasia thrives on pilgrimage and trade in sacred goods. Its markets overflow with relics, scriptures, alchemic incense, and blessed metals used by the church. Wealth flows through tithes, donations, and the steady stream of pilgrims seeking salvation.
