Timothy Baker
Summary
Timothy, née Downer, grew up a small, middle class family in Ecumene. His father worked the Canal, but his mother saw to it that he get an education as the eldest child, and Timothy took that seriously. He served a term on Umbra, and used the commission he earned to get through university. He had started in the banking business, working for the Fould, when he met Charlotte Baker at a social. Charlotte was determined, and they got married within a year. Timothy became the de facto patriarch of the Baker House, although his primary role is running the business, leaving the politicking and social navigation to his wife. That said, he's got a keen business mind and has put the Baker House back into the wealth they need to be a Minor House.Reputation
Timothy is a self-made man and wears that proudly. He's a bit more egalitarian than most House members, given that he did not grow up with wealth, and he has tried to instill that work ethic in his kids. On the other hand, Timothy has little patience for the idle and is more God-fearing than the average House member. Timothy remains very loyal to the British Colonials. In the social world, Timothy is respected for his mind, but his social class remains a bit of a joke to the other British Houses, and the French will never forget that he worked for the Foulds in such a low position. Timothy often can't hide the chip on his shoulder about that treatment when he's in social circles.Relationships
