Dragons are a fundamentally magical sapient species, having been present longer than any of the current mortal species.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Dragon anatomy is highly variable, dictated more by the laws of magic than any currently understood biology.

Genetics and Reproduction

Young are birthed from eggs, held in communal nests where they gestate for years. The form factors of these young is based as much on parentage as magic lent by the various dragons that acted as caretakers.

Civilization and Culture

Relationship Ideals

Because of the low rate of birth, the length of times between laying eggs, and the communal nature of egg-tending dragons tend to be polyamourous by most mortal standards. Once a courtship has concluded with acceptance on both sides Dragons will form alliances, trade treasures, and form shared hordes. Should they decide to seek procreation there are complex rituals to determine where the egg will be cared for or if a new roost will be made to consolodate power and draw in others.

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions

Since Dragons are polyamorous by nature they often find pairings with mortals as rewarding and meaningful periods in their long lifespans. Sometimes the result of these connections are the creation of a Half-Dragon.
