Themisian Court

The judicial portion of the government hears and tries crimes as brought forth against the laws of the city. The court also sponsors the training and dispersal of inner-Olympian security forces known as the Oracles. The judges of the Themesian court are selected annually from a large pool of elected candidates but their names are not released to the public. They hold one of thirteen positions named after ancient titans: Dion, Coeus, Crius, Hyperion, Iapetus, Kronos, Thea, Rhea, Themis, Mnemosyne, Phoebe, Oceanus, and Tethys. The judges wear masks and use only these titles in court so that they remain separate from their regular lives to impart decisions that are as impartial as possible.   Cases in the Themisian Court are held before a panel of five judges. Judges may not serve in two consecutive trials or in two trials of the same subject matter. For example, two individuals being tried for the same theft would have two different panels of judges. The Themesian Court is supposed to be impartial - and often is - but that does not always mean all of its members are as upstanding as others.
