As the director of Wayne Orphanage, Susan is deeply committed to the children in her care. She came to the orphanage when she was 10 with her younger brother, when their parents were killed by The Horrors. The director at the time was exceptionally kind to her, and it created in Susan the desire to help children herself one day. After attending classes at the University of Apollo on child welfare and psychology, Susan returned to the orphanage and took over as the director when the previous one retired.
Susan is well known in Metropolis for the work she does both with the orphanage and with other charities in the Octant.
