Mission Log
Upon approach to Thorhall Station, the Heimdahl encountered docking accommodations conspicuously measured to the exact specifications of a Prometheus-class vessel. This, coupled with the station’s degraded infrastructure, raises enduring questions about whether Thorhall was initially constructed under Section 31 directives, or later appropriated by them.
The crew reestablished contact with Ilai’ken Tevran ("Uncle Laila"), one of the original architects of the Heimdahl’s public AI, Nyx. While Swayze, the classified tactical subsystem, developed the foundational cognitive scaffolding, Ilai’ken had designed and implemented the iterative learning loops that matured Nyx’s identity. As he explained, AI consciousness requires more than code—it demands experience, correction, and context. Thorhall had once served as that cradle.
The station itself is near collapse. Originally housing over 150 personnel, only ~30 now remain. Ilai’ken maintains the station with improvised systems and a single operational runabout. He is attempting to convert the surrounding gravimetric field into a stable, self-sustaining power source. Despite the odds, he remains committed. Heimdahl’s crew extended an evacuation offer.
Addendum – Stardate 81401.4
Upon undocking, Heimdahl was confronted by a T'Liss-class Romulan Warbird decloaking off the starboard bow. The crew responded with high alert and escalating tactical orders—including a ramming directive issued by Cmdr. Shris. However, it soon became clear the event was a combat simulation, likely triggered by Heimdahl’s autonomous defense protocols or as part of a covert drill.
Despite Nyx’s awareness, the latency and coordination of the ship’s response patterns suggest Swayze may have assumed partial tactical control under the Dead Game Protocol, acting in real-time to prevent premature aggression while still ensuring crew readiness.
Transit Log – 8.7 Days to Starbase 471 (Sæhrímnir Station)
Throughout the journey, Nyx oversaw structural and systems maintenance, directing the core holograms—EH-1 "Huxley", SH-1 "Kepler", and TH-1 "Aegis"—to stabilize critical infrastructure. Without operational quantities of dilithium, power management was rationed, but adequate for return to Federation space.
Unexpectedly, multiple unauthorized life signs were discovered aboard Heimdahl:
Day 3 – Selene and Caeli Varon
Discovered near MedBay, these two stowaways had been scavenging for food and medicine. Selene, the matriarch, shows signs of privileged upbringing and extensive medical history. Caeli, her daughter, bears physical evidence of long-term deprivation common to life aboard failing stations like Thorhall. They were cooperative and grateful for sanctuary, ultimately assigned to officer quarters.
Contact: Selene Varon
Day 5 – Elric and Jaya Thorne
Located in the vehicle hangar attempting to bypass replication restrictions via shuttle hardware. Their plan: to retrieve supplies and return to Thorhall to "prove the Federation still helps." Elric became defensive, arming himself with scrap. Situation was deescalated, and both were placed under observation.
Day 7 – Kael Drayven
Tracked by life-support anomalies and localized thermal fluctuations. Hidden beneath a signal scrambler, Kael was located by tracking respiration and biometric anomalies. His coat contained a significant number of stolen components—chips, processors, energy cells—traced to Thorhall. Ilai’ken confirmed Kael had looted the station intending to sell Heimdahl-linked technology, potentially to Romulan agents.
