Session 13 – Meeting Old Friends
Mission 4 – Season 1, Episode 13
Stardate: 81426.2
Grid: Delta-27
Mission: Starbase 471 – Sæhrímnir Station
Locale: USS Heimdahl NCC-79852
Commanding Officer: Captain Shris Sosalis
Additional Officers: Cmdr Aze (XO), Lt. Cmdr Sulok, Lt. Prazda Mirac
Mission Log
As the USS Heimdahl approaches Starbase 471—Sæhrímnir Station—they detect a warp trail moving at Warp 8.5. Heimdahl is cruising at Warp 9.2 and decides to slow down to match pace, arriving alongside the USS Rhea. This gesture effectively allows their former commanding officer to "escort" them in.
Upon arrival, they witness a partially constructed station surrounded by a variety of freighters, couriers, and transport vessels. Some are arriving, others departing, while many remain anchored, preparing for cargo transfers.
In the distance, a Ross-class warship looms—its design reminiscent of the Galaxy-class vessels once made famous by Captain Jean-Luc Picard and the Enterprise-D. This one is the USS Cicero, an Intelligence ship of the 25th century. For unknown reasons, it’s holding station several leagues off, not docked or undergoing rest and refit, but maintaining a deliberate distance.
Hailing Frequency
Lt.Cmdr Sosalis: "This is Acting Captain Shris Sosalis, requesting docking permission."
Sæhrímnir Station: "Welcome, Captain. Proceed to Dock 2."
Lt. Aze: "Captain, they’re scanning us."
Lt.Cmdr Sosalis: "Expected."
SæS: "You appear to have seen some action. I’ll alert station repair teams and prepare your refit."
Lt.Cmdr Sosalis: "Sæhrìmnir – We’re bringing guests aboard. Prepare medical and station security accordingly."
As they dock, a few Workbee "Bumble" MSD launch into action, soon joined by a swarm of the smaller maintenance drones. Their first priority: conduct scans and begin inventory for necessary repairs and resupply. The docking itself proceeds without issue. However, the crew fails to notice that Heimdahl is being locked down with slightly more force than standard docking protocol would typically require.
Unexpected Boarding
Before the docking arms fully extend, the crew receives a ping:
Gabriel: "Heimdahl - Permission to come aboard."
Seconds later, the transporter activates near the bridge, and Commander Agent Gabriel Corvus – Chief Handler, Starfleet Intelligence of Starfleet Intelligence steps onto the deck.
Corvus: "Allow me to present myself. Commander Gabriel Corvus, Starfleet Intelligence."
Nyx reacts as if she’s greeting a long-lost uncle, taking his hand and leaning into his leg with childlike affection.
Corvus (to Nyx): "Don’t you hear the bells ringing? You have class."
Nyx: "Oh right! I do! Guys, I’ve got class—I need to go!"
(She takes off running and de-instances mid-stride, vanishing in holographic dispersal.)
Later, when Aze attempts to save a still image of Corvus, the system reveals that his face is distorted in every recording. No clear biometric or facial markers remain intact.
The Box from Thorhall
The crew questions Corvus, who remains candid—within reason. He asks about the evidence box retrieved from Thorhall and Ilai’ken Tevran. Producing a coin-like device (approx. 80mm x 3mm), he inserts it into a previously nonexistent slot on the box. It unfolds like a tradesman’s work kit, revealing:
- Isolinear chips
- Vials
- A jar
- Items preserved in resin
After verifying the contents, Corvus tags the box with a transporter marker and taps his combadge.
Corvus: "Cicero, one item to transport."
Then, stepping toward the bulkhead, he addresses the ship itself:
Corvus: "Old friend, you said you had one more thing to show me?"
A previously featureless wall transforms. A hidden door appears, opening into the Captain’s ready room. Corvus enters, locking the door behind him.
False Engineers
Moments later, four officers in gold uniforms appear, pushing small tool carts. They begin removing LCARS panels with suspicious precision and intent. Their movements are too focused, too practiced for maintenance personnel—and their speed of access through Heimdahl raises Sulok’s suspicion.
Sulok moves to confront them—when Eli Carradine enters carrying a briefcase.
Carradine: "Guys, it’s perfectly fine. They’re with me. I’m here to reclaim my property."
Carradine: "If you stand down and work with me, you’ll gain access to a ship and gear operated by one of the most qualified intelligence branches in Starfleet."
The crew resists. Carradine escalates.
Command Override Attempt
Carradine: "Computer—validate me. Alpha–Hydra–Omega–Lima–47. I’m taking command."
GM to Aze: "Is he attempting to access a protocol interface you already deleted?"
System Roll-Off
- EC: 5 hits
- Aze: 5 hits
- Swayze: 3 (Total: 8)
- EC rerolls 1 → 2 (Final: 6 hits)
Computer: ding (acknowledgment tone)
Swayze: "Your command does not work here, mate."
Aze initiates atmospheric override, releasing a sleep agent into the air. EC attempts another override, but it’s too late. The four impostors attempt to seize control—but the Heimdahl crew reacts swiftly, subduing the intruders before succumbing themselves to the gas.
Cleanup and Promotion
Gabriel Corvus returns to the bridge as the agents fall unconscious.
Corvus: "Aze, clear the air. Thank you."
He cuffs the stunned agents and taps his combadge.
Corvus: "Cicero, one room to transport."
Corvus: "Mr. Carradine, funny seeing you here. Is there anything I can help you with?"
Carradine: "Gabi, I should have known you were behind this."
Corvus: "There’s nothing left for you. I’ve secured all the evidence."
Carradine: "We’re not done here, Corvin." (snarls, then vanishes as only a hologram can)
Final Orders
Corvus calls over Shris Sosalis.
Corvus: "Computer, keep record. I, Commander Gabriel Corvus, Starfleet Intelligence, hereby promote Lt. Cmdr Shris Sosalis to the rank of Captain."
Corvus: "Computer, transfer all command codes to Captain Shris Sosalis."
As they shake hands, Shris feels a metallic disk press into his palm—identical to the earlier 80mm coin—and a sharp sting.
Corvus walks to an LCARS console and places his coin on it.
Corvus: "Captain, if you would."
Shris places his coin next to Corvus’. A new interface appears: The Corvus Network.
Addendum: Stardate 81426.8 – 81508.5
Over the next month, fifty new crew members arrive. Among them is Lt. Prazda Mirac, assuming the role of Chief Science Officer.
Captain Shris and senior staff conduct full evaluations of all arrivals. Several crewmembers are rejected—internally suspected of being Section 31 operatives.
Note: Shris rolled a complication; two applicants failed a Difficulty 2 task with zero successes.
Addendum: Stardate ~81480
Throughout the month, repeated requests surface concerning a young couple—Jaya and Elric Thorne—attempting to requisition unauthorized supplies and even a Runabout. Among the improperly obtained gear is a fresh replicator—believed to have “fallen off the back of a truck.”
Though they lack the skill to pilot the craft, they attempt to leave the station. Starbase security contains the situation and calls Captain Shris.
Rather than detain the couple, Shris repurposes a scheduled test flight as a supply run to Thorhall Station and Ilai’ken Tevran, turning the incident into a mission of benefit.
