The Flock Refugee Camp

Description

Occupying a clearing just beyond Mother's Hollow, this camp has become the base of operations for the Flock's forces, as well as a safe have and refugee camp for those attempting to flee the S.A.C's reach. It is made up of a groups of semi-permanent tents arranged in circles around campfires and cooking areas. To one side is a massive food serving line offering free soup, bread, and dried fruits and meats for the inhabitants. At the center is a particularly large, circular tent where meetings and planning sessions with the upper echelon of the cult take place.

Current NPCs

Brother Osiris Adi

The Voice of the Mother, and her caretaker, Osiris prefers to avoid the other members of the Flock as much as possible, but he is held to be the most revered member, akin to the status of the shamans of the past.

Branch Ilirad Kulaka

The representative of the camp watch, who stand by to protect those who come to the camp from local megafauna, and themselves. A male, 32 year old goliath standing 7.5' tall, he came to the flock after his herd on Yridos, White Desert Warriors was wiped out during the Operation Icebreaker. Some may have survived, but as far as he knows he is the last. He has come here for the chance to get revenge.

Branch Josti Mindara

A young aarakocra who heads the logistics of the faction, Josti was abducted from her home on Calidor and brought to Vespa and forced to perform in a travelling circus as part of a menagerie of species put into a Cirque de Soleil type performance. She escaped when the Flock attacked the circus while it was in transit. They freed those who wanted to leave, all of whom returned to their homes except Josti, who chose instead to come join the fight.

Branch Tirathel Sindallen

A changeling from The Fey Reach, Tirathel serves heads the covert, espionage, and infiltration aspects of Flock activities. Their history before arriving here isn't known well by their community members, but Tirathel has proved their value time and again, and earned the trust of the group.

Andaren Suul -

A forty year old half-elf, Andaren heads the strategy and coordination of more overt, violent operations. He spent his childhood attempting to hide what was considered his shameful mixed breeding. His father was an elf of the Seelie Court who had come to Bastion on a diplomatic trip trying to mend torn bonds between the Saikar and the Fey Reach, and had fallen for a human woman in the welcoming delegation. She didn't realize she was pregnant until after he had returned to the Reach, and he never met or even knew Andaren existed. The ancestry was difficult to mask, however, and at 14 Andaren was driven away by his mother's community, and she chose self-interest, staying behind and playing the victim. He spent some time amongst The Myriad before finding his way into the Flock's ranks when he met one of their agents recruiting in The Undermarket.

Demographics

The population of the camp is extremely varied, with the only notable exception being a very small number of human inhabitants. Most here come from the poorer classes, although some middle class citizens have made their way here, forsaking everything to join the Flock.

Government

While the Flock likes to tell of this camp as a place free of ruling and governance, this is entirely inaccurate. Decisions are made by the elder members of the Flock's ranks, who take their orders from Brother Osiris Adi, who serves as the mouth of Kapheira.

Defences

The camp relies on its remote, hidden location deep in the junges of Mancay Island, to serve as its primary protection. Between the camp and the island's only clear landing zone and dock is a thick jungle filled with dinosaurs and other dangerous animals.

Industry & Trade

While there is really no industry here, the people operate under a communist style system, where everyone contributes in whatever way they can to better the community, and in return they earn a place to sleep snd food to eat. Other necessary goods are traded for between the people who make them, and those who need them.

Infrastructure

While very little outside of low footprint tent housing has been constructed here, there is a more permanent shelter that serves food, and an altar of worship at a nearby lake that is used to induct new members of the Flock through ceremony and ritual.

Guilds and Factions

The only guild that operates here is the Flock.

Geography

One half of the island is made up of a couple of mountain peaks in a ring around a circular protected valley, with their south-western slopes softening into a flairly even, gentle decline across the other half of the island to the ocean.

Climate

The climate here since the island was remade by Kapheira, has been unusually humid, and sits at a fairly consistant 25 to 30 degrees. Winter comes with some cooling and more rains, but the powers of Mother Willow make this place comfortable to live in.
