Commander of State

The Commander of State is elected based on the merits they show as a leader of the Nines Republic, and are elected once they come of age by the Feline Court. After election a ceremony is held by the leader of (WIP religion) Once elected they lead over the executive functions of state and while the Feline Court handles the rest, their rulings may be overruled by the Commander of State.

To become Commander of State there are two things to consider, birthright and appointment. Birthright is simple, the firstborn to the previous Commander of State, if the firstborn is not fit (For whatever reason) the second born may be chosen and so on. To be even be eligible for appointment they must first pass the Royal academy, which acts as a school for royalty and the ruling class of the Republic. Second they must be evaluated on their progress in the Trial of Kings, where they must rule over a province of land for 5 or more years and then have their work evaluated by the Feline Court. Finally, based on their scores and other's eligibility (Though there are rarely any other who fit most of the criteria) then they are nominated as the successor to the Commander of State. When the time comes there is a ceremony held by the leader of the Nine's Church and they are officially made the new Commander of State.

The Commander of State acts as the head of the executive branch of the Republic, though their powers may extend into the Judicial and Legislative branches. The Commander of States goal is to bring lead the Republic and its inhabitants forward, however due to government corruption the Commander often becomes concerned with one's self or simply bettering the coffers of the state, neglecting the people they are supposed to lead.

During the era of the Nine's Empire, the title of commander of state was, Emperor of State, before being changed when the empire was converted into a republic.
