Baron Veylon ap Liam

Countess Tanaquill's Appointee and Steward of Doan’s Corners

Baron Veylon ap Liam is the Sidhe noble appointed to oversee the Barony of Doan’s Corners, a district revered for its deep wellspring of Glamour and vibrant cultural institutions. In his mortal guise, he is known as Valen Brigstock, a dashing English-born philanthropist, successful entrepreneur, and longtime patron of the arts. Brigstock’s name graces more than a few donor plaques throughout the Cleveland Museum of Art, where he is frequently seen at black-tie galas and fundraising events.

To most, Baron Veylon appears the picture of wealth and polish: portly, well-tailored, and always carrying himself with dignified calm. His sidhe mien is unmistakable—noble ears, shimmering eyes, and a smile that suggests he is always at least two steps ahead in any game of courtly intrigue. Some locals describe him as “the velvet glove over Cleveland’s open hand.”

Within his court, Veylon’s scribe Fillion is both aide and archivist. This stately Liam sidhe of indeterminate gender sees to the baron’s communications, keeps detailed records of political obligations, and discreetly manages any matters Veylon prefers to keep beneath his station. It’s rumored Fillion knows nearly everything that goes on in Doan’s Corners—possibly more than Veylon himself.

Esther Galway, a Kinain docent at the Cleveland Museum of Art, is likewise under his patronage. Known for her preternatural ability to gracefully usher the uninvited from the museum without incident, Esther is thought to have a minor gift of enchantment. She is particularly close to Fillion and is among the few who can challenge the scribe’s opinions without reproach.

Finally, Lady Angelica Fleming, Veylon’s Sheriff and a formidable Troll knight, commands the barony’s physical defenses. With her personal oathcircle of knights, she enforces the Baron's strict mandates regarding the preservation of Glamour and mortal artistry. While many regard Veylon as diplomatic to a fault, Angelica ensures that his decrees are respected.

While Veylon appears affable and gracious, those with a keen eye sense something distant in him—an absence of deep engagement in the world beyond curated exhibits and whispered salons. Whether that is mere aristocratic detachment or something more haunted remains a quiet question among Doan’s more watchful commoners. His strongest connection to the mortal world in the present day, apart from managing his various sources of lavish income, is his doting relationship with his husband, Arturo Sandoval, a talented but reclusive artist. Veylon's efforts to bring Arturo's work into greater renown seems to push Veylon himself further out into the spaces occupied by Dreamers.
