Military action
The Crown Prince of the Duchies the famed fop Traynar Greybank has collected a army of roughly 20,000 men mainly from Fenwick and the surrounding area and marched to confront the Confederation, against the advice of his uncle and other advisors.
The army of Traynar Greybank is 20,000 strong but is mostly untrained peasants levied from the villages and towns along the way. The vanguard of the confederate forces is only about a quarter of their strength at about 40,000 strong and has many more trained soldiers. Day One: The vanguard met with scouts of Traynar's forces and warned the marching troops. As the confederates are looking to take the capital of Fenwick as quickly as possible the General Lorn El Artem insisted that they press on and sweep the crown prince aside. Day two: The crown prince drew up his 20,000 on the dry hills surrounding the Western mire, his force of mainly untrained peasants contained little to no cavalry and only a couple hundred archers. This proved to be his downfall as if he had had more archers he may have prevailed. The General knew he had the better discipline and more troops and because he was pressed for time to take the capital he ordered the simple but effective tactic of forming 3 columns and attacking the Duchy line in 3 places to break it and cause them to rout. This would not work against a disciplined foe or one with large amounts of archers but Traynar had neither. As the columns advanced they took heavy casualties from the few archers on the hills but in the end it was not enough to slow them and the heavy infantry of Espur crashed into the lightly armoured Duchy line in 3 places and swiftly the training and moral started to show through and the duchy troops started to rout. Luckily for Traynar Greybank the cavalry of the El Artem was bogged down in the mire so most of his troops who fled managed to get away successfully as the confederate troops were tired from the climb and fight where as most of the Duchy troops did not even fight. Duchy: 21,000. Losses: 3,206 and 1,000 captured Confederation: 43,000. Losses: 2,645 Result Confederation hold the field and the Duchy army is routed but mainly alive
