Tetuna

Goddess of the Harvest and the Sun

Origin

Tetuna is the handcrafted daughter of the goddess Brata, who was attempting to help Armi's struggling followers. Nomads at the time, the devout of Armi were peaceful and refused to hunt, but didn't yet have the knowledge of agriculture, and were forced to roam Sinstram looking for natural food sources. As the numbers began to dwindle due to starveation, Armi took a clump of long golden grass and began to weave it into the shape of a woman. Brata promised to weave another strand of the golden grass each day, and if Armi's faithful could survive until the figure was finished, she promised them warm days and plentiful food. When the effigy was finally finished, Brata reached up to the sun and took a single drop of it, and placed it where the new goddess's heart would be. Tetuna sprang to life, causing the horizon sun to lift to the middle of the sky, and with her touch, long golden grass would turn to grain.

Places of Worship

Tetuna often has small churches and effigies built of her in any farming community across Sinstram, though they are most heavily condensed around the Golden Expanse, likely due to it's rolling golden grass prairies that she was supposedly crafted from. Very rarely built out of stone, these wooden temples feature hand carved reliefs and decorations giving each temple a unique feel and a sense of loving care.

Followers

The most common follower of Tetuna is farmers, unsurprisingly. Often rising shortly before sunrise, her followers will make her an offering of grain or knots tied from grass and leave them in an unshaded spot on their property and hope for a cool work day under her glory. Being typically poor, her followers rarely have time outside of their work to worship her more directly, and as such becoming more devouted to her in the form of being a champion, cleric, or priest is rare, typically only happening when the current religious leader of the community takes an apprentice under their wing. The few noted chosen by Tetuna to receive magical blessings have all originated from small towns or villages, and have a strong sense of community and loyalty, likely due to Tetuna's origin being related to Armi.
