Aton

Origin

Aton has always existed, since before time, and will exist until after time. They only became known to the world when they chose to reveal themselves to followers of Mezei, when a fallen paladin of Khaleed sought to infiltrate their ranks to stop a near century running plan in an attempt to redeem himself in his goddesses eyes. He warned the leaders of the sect of Mezei that when attempting to stop the ritual, the paladin would accidentally disrupt, but not prevent it, ruining the outcome and causing the end of the world to draw centuries before it should. With the dieties foresight, the cultists would kill the fallen paladin shortly after he arrived, and successfully complete their ritual, summoning a massive mawed creature from between the planes of existence, leading to the death of thousands. Aton felt no remorse for this, as they knew what would come and what had been, and for those thousands sacrificed, saved Sinstram as a whole and gave birth to a new hero of the era, who would later go on to destroy a long-forgotten lich before they could wither the world.    

Places of Worship

Aton curses any shrine, symbol, or other identifying mark associated with themselves. Any statues, offerings or other symbolic shows of faith to their power and abilities rot and crumble away, so great is the desire for secrecy. Some of Aton's most devout however, still choose to craft symbols or shrines and live within the cursed miasma they slowly emite as they crumble, and are granted horrifying visions of dozens of possible futures as punishment.  

Followers

No follower of Aton would ever admit to it, as that would be a betrayal of Aton's very nature. So hidden and rare are the sources of knowledge of Aton, that it is suspected that only 20 followers have ever existed at the same time. Simply sharing the existence of Aton is considered heresy, and as such, only former followers that have become disillusioned to Aton's powers may spread the knowledge of it's very existence.
