Season 2, EP 3: Ramiel
Their journey back to Runeshire was abruptly shattered by a terrifying ambush. With a sickening tear in the air, Ramiel, a towering demon, materialized before them, his infernal gaze fixed with singular intensity on Sam and the sentient blade, Crowley.
"You carry what is mine, mortal!" Ramiel roared, his voice like grinding stone. "That blade belongs to the Hells! I will reclaim it to mend Nezznar's failures of Wave Echo Cave!"
Sam's grip tightened on Crowley's hilt, his eyes narrowing. "Ramiel," he retorted, a flicker of grim recognition in his voice. "I know who you are. And Crowley isn't going anywhere with you."
"Tell him he'll have to pry me from your cold, dead fingers, boy!" Crowley's sardonic voice echoed in Sam's mind, a faint, metallic rasp.
Sam smirked, a hint of Crowley's defiance in his expression. "He's quite comfortable where he is...prince."
Ramiel's eyes blazed, a low growl rumbling in his chest. "Insolent whelp! The time for pleasantries is over. Crowley returns to his rightful master!" He spread his bat-like wings, infernal energy crackling around him, and with a guttural snarl, Ramiel lunged, unleashing a torrent of hellfire upon the group. Sam's sword met with Ramiel's in a thunderous clash.
Thane casted a whirlwind of shadow spells, blinding his minions while Goen picked them off one by one. Crystal deflected many blows with her glaive and sliced at Ramiel's heel, bringing him down to a knee, Wong leapt in to stun him across the forehead. All this lead to an opening for Sam to pierce Ramiel through the heart.
The battle was intense, and while the party managed to defeat Ramiel, Sam knew that a Prince of Darkness could not truly die; his spirit merely returned to the Nine Hells. As Ramiel’s dark essence vanished, he cursed Sam’s name, vowing a terrifying return. Sam, shaken by the encounter, vowed to research how to permanently kill a demon upon their return to Runeshire.
As the party arrived back to Runeshire, they spent their time studying as much as they could, but the city’s libraries, while respectable, were no match for the vast archives of Gale. It became clear that their next step was to journey to Gale, the capital, to delve deeper into the mysteries of the impending Blood Moon, which was now only months away. Furthermore, Crystal would finally be able to consult her grandmother, Elenore, about the enigmatic journal she had found.
With their objectives clear, the group made their temporary goodbyes to Runeshire and its people, preparing for the long trek along the Amber Road, the highway that led directly to Gale. This marked the close of their Runeshire chapter, leaving an ominous foreshadowing of a war to come. The Blood Moon loomed, and the Legion’s shadow stretched ever longer across the land of Regalia.
