The Country
The United Netherlands are located between France, Germany, and the North Sea. It came into existence in 2043 when the Netherlands and Flanders merged. It is home to the largest port of Europe, its appropriately-named capital Europort. About a third of the country is underwater, most of that is covered by toxic sludge. To the Dutch, who always bragged about their fight against the water, this is a personal affront.
History
In 2011, the Black Tide hit the country and its neighbours, leaving toxic sludge everywhere, including throughout its many rivers. After going near-bankrupt due to the Eurowars, Flanders started talks to join in 2038, resulting in the UNL being formed in 2043. In 2062, to end a time of economical downfall, a flurry of new laws meant the country finally bent the knee to the Corps. Now it is the Corps that resist the Triple-AAAs.
Current Status
Amsterdam, for decades the sole domain of criminals, now has actual law enforcement. But make no mistake, the criminals are not leaving. Elsewhere in the country, the fused Riverplex is growing in power and territory still. And of course as you may know, in part thanks to some UCAS runners, we have a new queen! Emma now leads the country with Queen-Consort Marikka.
The Future
The Queen-Consort is a mage, and the anti-magic faction has no interest in forgiving that. The Security Corps are engaged in a quiet war with each other, constantly sabotaging each other. Regulus JI is still leading a Corporate coalition against Saeder-Krupp. Meanwhile, the Penose is spiraling down into a new liquidation war. Conflict is on the rise, which is where we come in.
