Rhizome Zone

....WORK IN PROGRESS....

The Rhizome is a simulated realm that is constantly changing due to the edits, patches, and updates performed by certain Base Operative who are tasked with its upkeep. The technology used to access Rhizome is very dangerous, but the people who enter it have to adapt their minds and bodies to get used to the process.   If the people do not adapt, bad things can happen. It takes focused work and dedication to get your body into the right shape and your mind into the correct headspace to be fit enough to enter the zone.   When a person enters the Rhizome Zone, it takes a bit of time for them to orient themself properly. Their eyes must adjust and their body must get used to existing in the strange environment. When one is to exit the Rhizome Zone, they must do so slowly and cautiously. Being abruptly ripped out of the simulation can cause mental, emotional, and even physical damage. The brain being engaged in the zone and suddenly forcefully removed can cause it to seize or overheat. Not giving eyes enough time to wind down and process can cause blindness.   The best time to transition in and out of the simulation is through sleep. When one is at rest, the Rhizome apparatus can be properly equipped, and the body can slowly adjust to the process while it is still in rest. Once the body begins to wake naturally, it will start to feel as if it is simply embarking upon a new day. At the end of the simulation, the body should fall asleep within the Rhizome to give the person time to adjust back to living in the real world. While the body is asleep within the Rhizome Zone, the apparatus can be removed, and the person can awaken again naturally.   Some simulations created and curated by W.I.L.L.O.W.I.S.P. are less invasive and easier to transition in and out of. These systems are more reminiscent of the typical Virtual Reality goggles that are popular amongst the average person. Though the experience can still cause dizziness and motion sickness, among other plights (especially for those with underlying medical conditions), most people can rip off the goggles with little to no consequence besides a momentary blinking to reorient oneself back in the real life environment.
