Baresis

The Drum of War

The god of war in the Trogur pantheon, Baresis has the most hair-trigger temper of all. His wrath is especially imminent should the leader of a nation go to war for personal reasons: he is sure to bless the enemy instead of the army itself in that case. While him and Stradeth are sometimes at odds due to his actions leading to more people fleeing to Stradeth's temples, the two still share a common goal of weakening Azdar in Siarus' name. Baresis leads Siarus' holy forces in a defense effort whenever the foul god attacks their part of the afterlife, and nothing brings him more joy than to bring misery to the followers of the foul god. One that slays the followers of Azdar or another part of the Niage pantheon is sure to receive his blessing. According the the creation myth, Baresis cursed the Orcs, Goblins and Dark Elves in a moment of fury: something that he regrets to this very day, and has paid penance for; .

The Divine Defender

Baresis is the general of Siarus' holy army, and is in charge of the pantheon's divine defenses, and planned attacks on Azdar's army of minions; should the foul god call down a raid upon them, then he will face Baresis' infamous wrath. However, for all of his fury, he does not act without reason or tactical planning; according to his tenets, unchanneled rage only eats away at the person themselves. He is often worshipped by soldiers, and they often pray for his favor before heading into battle. Some of his more fervent followers sometimes claim that he takes a mortal form to participate in wars, but this has neither been confirmed or denied.

Tenets of Faith

  • War is a means of defense, and is a means to attain peace. Under no circumstances should it be a means to intimidate or control.
  • Patience is key; A proper leader shall not give in to diplomatic provocations. Such manipulations are meant to force them into attacking first, so their opponent can claim to be the defender instead of on the offense.
  • Should one be forced to be the first to attack regardless, then one should be determined to finish the battle they began.
  • Civilians are to be spared as much as possible; collateral damage is to be considered before taking action, and is to be limited to the best of one's abilities. Attacking children and elders is especially out of the question.
  • A true soldier shall fight to protect the innocents, and shall not flee in the face of danger when they are in need of help.
  • A true soldier will not leave behind an ally that would still survive upon recieving medical attention.
  • Times of war do not excuse sexual assault. The Clerics of Nastrix are to be alerted should a soldier disobey this tenet.
