The First Manmade Spell

Despite the ban on the study of magic, a young scientist named Malum Ideae secretly studied the mystical arts. It wasn't long until he discovered the ability to channel the chaotic magical energy of the world and utilize it. His first spell was a simple light. However, his continued study revealed the sheer amount of magical energy that existed in the old world.   His second spell leveled 13 buildings and killed about 100 people, including himself. Magic was further outlawed in Sotaria, however, there was no undoing what Malum had shown the world.
