Wreck Plains

An open, dusty area of cracked earth and abandoned war machines, where the wind whistles and groans through spires of twisted metal wreckage. The Wreck Plains is ripe with valuable salvage-- scrap metal, components, and stashes of fuel and wealth buried under the sand. It’s evident that many pre-Flood battles went down here, and skirmishes between wastelanders still happen here frequently. Yuan-ti clans use teams of slaves to dig up salvage and cut apart the metal wrecks, which they then sell to wasters, or use to repair and upgrade war machines.   Another presence in the Wreck Plains is a scattered faction called the Molerats. The Molerats are exclusively drow males, and seem to excel at the engineering of explosives. They live in hidden bunkers and caves throughout the Plains, only coming out at night, to hunt and scavenge. When they do, they ride in spiked dune buggies or on armored dirt bikes, hurling harpoons and pipe bombs. The Molerats wear cloth and leather masks with goggles, adorned with metal spikes and bones (especially teeth), and otherwise wear strappy leather armor riveted with rusty metal. The Molerats have created minefields in and around their territories, making travel dangerous for anyone who doesn’t know the safe paths around their deadly traps.   This territory is also haunted by spirits who died in battle, and by ancient automatons who aren’t aware that the fighting has finished. Both pose a threat to scavengers poking through pre-Flood war machines in hope of finding valuable scrap.   The southern part of the Wreck Plains borders on the Alawhazi Marshes.

Fauna & Flora

There is very little natural life in the wreck plains. Some hardy flora can find root under the shade of the fallen machines, but animal life is exceedingly rare. The exception would be creatures that wander up from the Alawhazi Marshes searching for food, or the populations of burrowing ankhegs.

Natural Resources

While not necessarily a natural resource, scrap metal is abundant in the Wreck Plains. The ancient war machines used to fight fiends over a century ago have now been buried in the sand and left to rust. Among the common scrap, valuable arcane batteries can be found, extremely valuable to any wastelander with a Kolichev war machine.
