Silk Cradle

The Silk Cradle is the breadbasket of the drow empire. It is the northern region of their empire, and it spans along the southern edge of Gutrope. It is closed in by the Ngari Mountains to the east and the Azant Wilds to the south. The Cradle is fertile, receiving rainy springs and generous runoff from the highlands. Folk here lead simple, hardworking lives as farmers and ranchers that are often cut short by rampaging demons or raiders from the northern steppe.   The Silk Cradle is divided into fiefdoms among drow nobles of the Great Houses. This region is one of much political tension and jockeying, and due to its fertility, many nobles want it to grow valuable cash crops to improve their station.   Much of the populace of the Silk Cradle is made up of non-drow races, who work the land in exchange for protection. These peasants follow the Dark Seldarine and make sacrifices to the gods of the drow, but also secretly worship their own gods behind closed doors.
