Abercast

Description of Abercast

After the outbreak of the Arcane Plague, a group of refugees fought their way back into the capital of Abercast. The streets were littered with undead and rubble of a once great city. The alabaster walls contrasted with blood, gore and chalk to warn those who came to the city for refuge. Either through sheer will or stupendous luck, some of the city squares were conquered and a haven for life was born in the middle of a nest of the undead. As years went by people joined the city, and more squares were cleared for inhabitants to live in.   In recent times the city has seen rapid expansion and established trading with a neighbouring city-state; Cad'Mort. Wealth and security are on the rise and in general a beacon of hope for the region for those seeking refuge. Newcomers are uncommon, but not unheard of - most of the trade that goes through Abercast originates from Xynnar, a newly founded city in the ruins of a settlement long lost.

History of Abercast

In an epoch before the plague, a human invention came to the shores of Caeroth to look for riches, technology and power. In this search two families were sent from their homelands to secure trade and land for their dynastys' later arrival; The Abercasts and The Larnados'. Abercast was founded in the Delta of the Kellion River, a place sacred to the elves of this region. With little to no care for the natives of the land they imprisoned and enslaved them to do their hard labour. This sudden arrival of humans to Caeroth forced the Selestine Conclave to intervene and a war between elves and humans wrathed the lands between them. But as the humans were more experienced in the way of warfare they pushed the elves beyond the Lavelhir Mountains in the North and thus a Kingdom was born from the ashes of war. Alabaster towers of pristine craftsmanship arose across the kingdom establishing an infrastructure never seen in this region of Caeroth. Even with the sudden surge of power and wealth in the region, Abercast lost its funding from the Ndekian Dynasty and slowly the power they held in the region began to erode as the vengeful elves started raids on the eroding kingdom.   Magaru Abercast ordered an enormous gate to be built between the pass of the Lavelhir Mountains to stop the elven raids to protect the people of his kingdom. As the gates were built elves invaded the kingdom and momentarily stopped the building of the gate. The elves, now wielding tools of the arcane to scorch, freeze and twist Magarus' people went to his finest apothecary Cetus Blearr.   The elves' raids ran deeper and deeper into the kingdom, and what Magaru had learned was the idea of scorched earth. Destroying the land between Abercast and The Selestine Concord. With this biological warfare made from Cetus' research, the elves fell in mass, but this also had severe consequences for the Kingdom of Abercast. Many people sought refuge, either by fleeing from the region, either back home or to more remote places of Caeroth.

Beginning of the End

With a kingdom in ruin, the older Magaru saw the beginning of a horrible fate befall the realm. An unexplainable sickness started to spread in the Kingdom, it was named the Mortis Plague, later renamed The Arcane Plague as the origin of the Plague was discovered. Soon after the sickness spread Abercast fell, and so did many other cities of Caeroth.
