Its defenses include wall- and tower-mounted arcane cannons, knights mounted on dragonnels and other exotic creatures, and a massive dedicated defense force. Officially, the district falls under the jurisdiction of the city guard for criminal matters, but the Laboratorium Guard Force handles all security within its grounds.
