Skycenter

The Skycenter features a monumental base complex that spans several city blocks. Its foundation supports a sprawling network of shops, restaurants, and public spaces, designed to accommodate the bustling activity of locals and visitors alike. The exterior showcases sleek stone facades accented by metallic trim, reflecting the Empire's aesthetic of strength and refinement.   As the structure ascends, its design narrows into a towering shaft crowned with a vast, circular platform. This elevated stable, known as the Skydeck, is specifically designed for flying mounts, such as griffons, wyverns, and pegasi. Enclosed by protective railings and equipped with sheltered landing pads, the Skydeck is both functional and secure, offering unparalleled views of the city and its surroundings.  

Base Complex

  The base of the Skycenter is a bustling commercial hub. Inside, visitors can explore:  

• Market Arcades:

  Lined with artisan stalls and specialty shops, selling everything from rare spices to exquisite jewelry.
 

• Dining Halls:

  Featuring cuisines from across the Empire, catering to a diverse range of tastes and budgets.
 

• Public Plazas:

  Open spaces filled with fountains and seating areas, illuminated by the warm glow of Aetherlights.

  This vibrant ecosystem of commerce and culture makes the Skycenter a destination in its own right, drawing patrons from all walks of life.  

The Elevators

  Six enormous elevator shafts connect the base complex to the Skydeck. Operated by a simple yet effective counterweight system, the elevators are a feat of engineering ingenuity. Crafted from sturdy metals and enchanted wood, each elevator is capable of lifting heavy loads, including passengers and their mounts. The counterweights, hidden within the central tower, ensure smooth and efficient operation, even during peak usage.  

Lighting and Atmosphere

  The entire Skycenter is illuminated by Aetherlights, magical lighting powered by the city’s advanced Aetherite Conduit System (ACS). These lights cast a steady, soft glow, creating a welcoming atmosphere both day and night. The Skydeck’s perimeter is ringed with brighter Aetherlights to aid in nighttime landings, ensuring safety for arriving and departing mounts.  

The Skydeck

  At the pinnacle of the Skycenter lies the Skydeck, the facility’s crowning feature. Designed to accommodate dozens of flying mounts at a Time, the Skydeck includes:  

• Landing Pads:

  Clearly marked zones for arrivals and departures, equipped with shock-absorbing surfaces to ensure gentle landings.
 

• Stabling Areas:

  Spacious, enclosed stalls where mounts can rest, feed, and be cared for by trained handlers.
 

• Observation Lounges:

  Comfortable seating areas where visitors can enjoy panoramic views of Tatharia Capitolina while awaiting their mounts.

  The Skydeck serves not only as a transportation hub but also as a social space, fostering interactions among citizens and travelers from distant lands.
