A region of coastlines and islands between them, Colladia is the only truly aquatic region of the World. What began as a minor naval power on the small island of Colladia, tucked between Gordunni and Nalendi, over the ages grew into a formidable naval and economic power, one that other regions depend on to make their own trade networks run.

The coastlines and seas of Colladia have shaped the folk who live here in a way few other regions have. The Inner Sea is bountiful, but it can also be extremely dangerous. Your next meal is out in the waves, but so are things trying to eat you. There's ample work keeping the neighboring regions connected efficiently, but it keeps you away from your family and friends much of the year. Spending days and weeks at a time with the same crew breaks barriers down faster than anything else, and you'll soon learn if a crewmate will be kin for life or someone you can't stomach the sight of. When the people of Colladia celebrate, they drink and eat enough to kill a wyvern. Newcomers to Colladia find the locals loud, boisterous, and impossibly honest. There's no sense wasting time on pretenses, that's for in-landers.  

Sailors, Scallywags, and Searchers

With so much of the Colladia's economy directly connected to the seas, and to navigating them for other regions, it's no wonder most of the adult population makes their livings from it. From humble fishers and kelp famers, to pilots and marines, there's a niche for nearly everyone. Many sign on with larger vessels, transporting goods and people between neighboring regions for a decent wage. If you're a skilled warrior or mage, a fleet will take you on to defend other, more precious ships.   Of course, there are those who work outside of the laws of the region. Colladia, unsurprisingly, has a history of piracy and smuggling only rivaled by Carassia in the days before the old republic. Many a legendary pirate has hidden in the archipelagos that make up Colladia's seas, attacking foreign ships for their goods and luxuries. Most of these pirates died in battle or were mutinied by their crews, but some seem to have vanished into history, a scant few right after claiming the bounty of a lifetime. These stories have been passed down through the ages, inspiring one foolhardy treasure hunter after another to take to the seas and find the lost pirate treasures.
