Colonel Edmonds's Regiment

Composition

Manpower

The regiment started with just fewer than 500 soldiers and officers, but battle, disease, and desertion brought the total manpower down to 207, with Colonel Benjamin Edmonds the only officer to fit enough to march with the regiment to their place of imprisonment after Yorktown.

Logistics

Upkeep

The remainder of the regiment is now being held prisoner, and their care falls to the Continental Congress. Some of the people of the town in which they are being held also help to ensure the soldiers have food, clothing, and work to do.

History

The regiment arrived in America in late 1776 and participated in campaigns in Pennsylvania, the southern colonies, and Yorktown, where they were taken prisoner.
