The Ordering

Structure
The Gods:
The gods rule the Ordering. However, not all gods are equal.
The First Five rule absolutely. Their word is law and their rulings are just. Their morals are the morals of the people. Their acts are by definition good, because the gods are infallible, and their actions are just. The First Five rule in concert, led by the Allfather. Even the rebel gods have a formal place in the Order, even if they do not preform their duties.
The children of the First Gods rule as their representatives in the world. They each have various responsibilities in The Ordering. Some rule fiefs, some oversee ceremonies, some supervise works or people. Everyone has a proper place in the Ordering.
Bellow the Gods are the Guardians. These men and women are the best of the common men and women of the Ordering. They protect and preserve the Order. They receive education and martial training. The people of this class forms the officers, the supervisors, the teachers and leaders of the Ordering. They serve directly beneath the Gods.
Guardians are organized in temples. Each temple serves a different God. Each temple have different responsibilities. Temples often compete for prestige. More powerful gods generally have more prestigious temples, and more impressive portfolios of responsibilities.
The Servant Class serves in the more mundane roles. They serve as the "aristocracy" and clergy of the Ordering, and carry out most of the administrative work in the empire.
At the bottom of the social order are the common workers. These people make up 90% of the population. Their lives are spent working in the fields to feed the Guardians and the Gods. They are supervised by the Guardians, who take away gifted children to become Guardians themselves. The commoners have some limited freedoms that act as pressure valves that keep them from becoming too frustrated with their lot in life.

The Ordering is inward looking and stagnant. They seek to preserve their paradise on earth for all eternity.

They are self sufficient in nearly all things.
History
The Gods established the Ordering at the beginning of the age of Order. For many years they ruled the world unchallenged. But the Dead Sea Collective challenged their power, and broke it at The Battle Of Driftwood. Since then the remnant of the once world spanning empire has kept trudging on, oblivious and uncaring for the world which abandoned perfection.
Demography and Population
The Ordering is densely populated, its lands are fertile and easily farmed.
Death rates are high at birth and in the first few years of life. Those that make it past their first 10 years can expect to live three score years and ten.
Territories
The territory now held by the Ordering are the most fertile lands in Renata. They are the core of an empire which once spanned the known world. The capital Solace is holy ground, where the gods first touched down on Renata. These lands now held by the Ordering are those were the gods' power and influence was strongest. No rebellion has ever come close to wrestling these lands from the Gods.
Military
The Guardians form the standing peacetime army of the Ordening. The peasantry are required to train a few days every year, but they do not own arms. The full might of the Ordering has not been mobilized since @The War That Never Was.

Iron Age level technology.
Religion
The population of the Ordering believe in the First Five Gods and those gods that followed.
Foreign Relations
The Ordering maintains some relations with the Apex Republic. However, these have been strained in the last few decades because of the apparent toleration for magic in Apex. It is hostile to the Dead Sea Collective.
Agriculture & Industry
The Ordering is an agricultural society. Most of the population are farmers and the main produce is foodstuffs. The Ordering is self sufficient in minerals, animal produce, and other necessities.
Trade & Transport
Solace is the only legal trade port. Luxuries from Apex and the rest of the world flow too and from the city. The Ordering's self sufficiency means trade is rather moderate.
Education
The Guardians receive extensive education in rhetoric, philosophy, and mathematics. They also receive martial training. The rest of the population are taught only what they need to know to fulfill their duties.
Infrastructure
Canals ensure cultivation of the land. Aqueducts lead water into the cities. Roads crisscross the land, allowing the authorities to travel everywhere with ease. Fortifications manned by Guardians dot the countryside, supervising the peasants in the field, and protecting against incursions and revolts.
Mythology & Lore
The Gods descended to Renata in the place that became Solace. They tamed the wild and barbaric world and created the Ordening, a place where people could be safe, protected and guided by the benevolent Gods.
Divine Origins
This religion came from the Gods' evident power and benevolence.
Cosmological Views
The First Five Gods are the original, and thus the most important Gods. Their children and creations follow in importance.
Ethics
Obey the gods, obey the guardians. Be faithful, be subservient.
Priesthood
Some Guardians serve as priests of the gods, and conduct the various ceremonies.
Political Influence & Intrigue
The various gods do not always get along, and the guardians scheme for power and influence within their own complex hierarchy.
