The Moon's Rage

The Conflict

The Engagement

The lunar dragonflight baited the pantheon's forces into engaging them before their allies could arrive, utilizing the terrain as well as false retreats to goad the pantheon onto open tundra. Due to unfamiliarity with combat against dragons, the majority of the pantheon assumed the entire war would be ended in the course of a single battle, vastly underestimating not just the lunar flight's forces, but their abilities. Unknown at the time was that Lunar Mind Control could affect the divine at all, and this was heavily used to Neia's advantage. Upon clearing the skies for better visibility by Ryou, the God of Wind, Neia mind controlled Ferventi, God of Wolves with the goal of turning him against his own forces.   An omnia familiar with the lunar flight's tactics, Lorenzo McConnell, was able to warn his patron god, Yung Pagoni, God of Peacocks, who was able to shield many of the pantheon's forces from the moonlight and prevent their subsequent mind control. At this point, however, Ferventi began to attack all of those around hi, regardless of friend or foe. Due to the confusion, many of the pantheon's mortal followers were killed in the battle, including Ferventi's own daughter, Wolfmother Akinra. Casina, an ancient omnia, joined the flight in an attempt to stop Ferventi's rampage and was beheaded.   During the battle and still believing she had control over the wolf god, Neia was attacked by him herself, tearing out a large portion of the dragon's throat and forced her to flee. During her retreat, a Anti-Dragon Lance likely fired by one of Soliairs Taeyang's ships severed a portion of Neia's tail. Attempting to stop Neia's retreat but stopped by Hilathu, Vega was killed.   At the same time, numerous dragons attacked Soliairs' fleet stationed in the nearby bay and still disembarking more of the pantheon's forces. Numerous ships became heavily damaged, including Soliairs' flagship, the Temple of the Crane. A strafing run by a lunar dragon heavily wounded Ludovic, who although was able to fatally wound the dragon, nearly died in the skirmish himself.

Outcome

Many gods sustained grievous injuries in the conflict and had to be removed from the battlefield. This included Ferventi and Ludovic, as well as an array of several other minor gods. Fire God Vega was also killed, causing the Pacific Eruption Disaster.   Due to his mind controlled state, much of the Pack of Ferventi removed themselves from the conflict in order to find a way to treat him, resulting in a drastic loss of firepower for the pantheon as well as their primary scouts.
